Should I get Classic or Volume Lashes?
This depends on the look you want. With 1-2-1 classic eyelashes, more of a ‘mascara’ look is created as the lashes are thicker in diameter and very individual. Whereas, with Russian volume lashes, finer lashes are used, which creates more of a ‘fluffy’ full look. Volume lashes are also great if you have gaps in your lashes as the handmade fans overlap, making it appear as if the gap is not there.
What are Classic lashes?
Classic eyelash extensions use a 1 to 1 application technique. Using extensions that are longer and thicker than your natural lash, we can create a more open, defined eye without the need for mascara, whilst keeping your natural lashes safe and healthy.
What are Russian Volume lashes?
Known as Russian or Volume eyelashes, this technique uses finer lashes to create a fan of 2-10 lashes which are then placed on each one of your individual lashes. Whether you want a set of cat eye mega volume extensions, or a natural doll eye 3D set, we offer a range of curls and lengths to create a bespoke set of lashes for you.
- Mini infills (tier 1) are strictly only available for up 9 days after your last appointment.

- Infill prices are NOT a set price, final price will be subject to the condition & time spent doing your lashes on the day of your appointment

What are lash extensions and how are they applied?
Lash extensions are synthetic, man-made lashes that are applied to one individual natural lash. We start by cleansing your lashes, applying under eye pads and secure down the lower lashes, then isolate each individual natural eyelash to apply the extension close to, but not touching, the skin.
Does the lash extension process hurt?
If done correctly, lash extensions should never be painful. If you’ve never had them before, it may feel strange, but you should soon get used to it. Those with extremely sensitive or dry eyes, or eyes that aren’t completely closed may feel a slight tingling sensation from the lash glue; this should subside quite quickly.
Will lash extensions irritate my eyes?
No, once your set is completed, they should feel like your normal lashes. If you rub or pick or pull your lashes you will cause irritation.
Are lash extensions safe when pregnant?
We insist that women who are pregnant come in for a patch test 3 days before your appointment. This is to ensure that your body is going to be okay with the products we use during the procedure, this is because during pregnancy your body is more vulnerable. We also want you to be aware of a few things;
- We will need you to lie quite still
- The treatment lasts for a minimum of 1 hour. We understand that lying still for long periods of time can be hard when you are pregnant, therefore please let your therapist know if you need to get up and stretch or walk around.
- Hormone levels can more you more susceptible to a reaction
- Lashes can become weaker & fall out quicker, a more natural set is recommended
- If you were to have a reaction, we can remove your lashes but a doctor may not be able to give you treatment
I’ve had my lashes done at another salon; can I get an infill with you?
Unfortunately, we do not offer infills on other lash techs work. This is because we do not know what they have used, so the finished result may not look right.
Is there anything I need to do before my lash appointment?
Please avoid strip lashes a few days before your appointment as the glue can be very difficult to remove and will make applying a set of extensions very difficult.
Please try to come in with no eye makeup as removing this will eat into your lash applying time.
Avoid using any oil-based products around the eye for 24 prior to your appointment.
Can you be allergic to lash adhesive?
The chance of an allergic reaction is low as the extensions do not touch the skin, only your lash. If you would like a sensitivity test, please book in for 24-48 hours prior to your appointment, where we will apply a few extensions to your natural lashes.
Can anyone have lash extensions?
As long as you are not allergic to the adhesive, you can have lash extensions!
Can I wear glasses or contact lenses with my eyelash extensions?
Yes, wearing contacts or glasses after your appointment if fine! If you regularly wear glasses please let us know as if we use a lash that is too long, you may be able to feel them against your glasses when you blink. We recommend removing your contacts before your treatment, so please bring a spare pair or your contact case.
Can I get a spray tan with lash extensions?
As long as your lashes are done first, this is fine.
Is it normal for my natural lashes to fall out with my extensions?
Between 1-5 natural lashes fall out every day, so if you see an extension with a natural lash attached don’t panic this is normal!
Why are my lash extensions not lasting?
Depending on how you are caring your lashes, your skin type and the activities you do in the day can affect how your lashes last. Check out our ‘How to take good care of my lashes’ to find out more about lash aftercare. If your problems persist, please let us know and together we can try and diagnose the problem.
Can you get lash extensions after a lash lift?
We do not recommend this as the extensions will not bond properly or last as well. Please wait until the results of the lash lift has subsided before your extensions.
How long before my wedding day should I get my lashes done?
We recommend having a full set 2-3 weeks prior to your big day and then coming in for your infill a day or two before. This is because we want to ensure you are not allergic to the lashes, and so you can be sure on the style and any changes can be made to give you the perfect look.
Do eyelash extensions work on blonde lashes?
Yes! Our lash extensions and glue are black but will blend very well with your natural lashes. If you are having an express set, or want your lashes to be super defined, we recommend a lash tint 24 hours before your extensions.
Do lash extensions work on straight lashes?
Of course! We have a range of curls and lengths so we can completely customise your set to give you the perfect lashes!
Can you sleep with lashes on?
Absolutely! Your extensions will feel like your normal lashes and are completely safe to sleep in. We recommend trying not to sleep on your front as you may rub your lashes against your pillow which can cause damage.
Can I have my lashes tinted before lash extensions?
If you have very fair lashes, or are having an express set, you may want to tint your lashes 24 hours before your extensions, but it is not compulsory.
Do eyelash extensions damage your natural lashes?
Eyelash extensions that are applied correctly will not damage the natural eyelashes. We take extra care & time to perfect our work to ensure that all the synthetic eyelashes are applied individually. Choose your therapist based on quality of work overtime, cheap is not always better. Especially when it comes to the health of your natural eyelashes. At Eva Mercedes we pride ourselves on ensuring you the health of your natural eyelashes.
Therapists who are not professionally trained, inexperienced and rush their work are likely to apply the synthetic eyelash extensions incorrectly resulting in damaged natural eyelashes. Be cautious and do your research of salons who do not specialise in eyelash extensions.
At Eva Mercedes we customise each set of eyelash extensions to you and your needs. We assess the state of your natural eyelashes to prescribe to you the perfect weight, thickness and length that won’t damage what you have. If you have previously had damaged lashes from another therapist, we recommend you come in for a consultation prior to booking an appointment for a full set.
If you are still concerned, we recommend using a growth formula that helps stimulate, strengthen and condition the follicle, leaving you with longer, fuller looking lashes. In store we stock Long Lashes, the ingredients are vegan, gluten free, cruelty free and gentle enough for the most sensitive eyes. And don’t worry, it is also eyelash extension safe!
How do I take good care of my lash extensions?
Cleansing your lash extensions properly is extremely important. Improper or avoiding cleansing can cause lash extensions to fall out prematurely, and can lead to potential infections, eye irritation, poor lash health and lash mites.
Clean your lash extensions a minimum of 3 times a week, or daily if you wear eye-makeup every day or have oily skin. Ensure to cleanse your lash extensions after swimming and activities that cause excessive sweating (gym, sauna, etc).
- Using a lash specific cleanser and cleansing brush, apply the foam to the lid and lashes.
- Use gentle, downwards motions with the brush to work the cleanser into the lashes, and breakdown any makeup or dirt.
- Rinse thoroughly with water – this is easiest to do in the shower.
- Pat dry with a tissue and brush through with your clean mascara wand.
Avoid face cleansing washes around your eye area as they may contain oils which can breakdown the lash glue.
Avoid cotton buds/pads, make-up wipes, facial sponges and face cloths on your lash extensions as they can pull at your lashes causing loss of and damage to your lashes.
Avoid vigorously rubbing your eyes.
