Looking back at old pictures of me at school really makes me cringe. The hair. The clothes. The BROWS! If only I knew what I do now, it would’ve saved me a lot of money, time and upset. Following fashionable brow trends is impossible with them changing so ridiculously often. It’s impossible to have pencil thin one week, then big and bushy the next – your brows (and brow artist) just can’t take it. Nowadays, I find instead of following what’s popular, looking at each individual persons face and style is the way to go!
Determining your face shape.
First and foremost, we need to find your face shape. One of my favourite ways of doing this is to take a whiteboard marker (one that is easily wiped off!), looking in a mirror and drawing around the outline of your face. The picture below will help you pick a shape. Bare in mind some people may be a mix, so just go with the one your most similar to.
The Oval Face
What should this look like?
Your jawline and forehead are about the same width
Your chin is pretty soft with no harsh lines.
Your widest point of your face is your cheekbones.

What brows will suit me?
The oval face is considered the “most beautiful” because of its soft and symmetrical components (obviously whatever face shape you have, you are beautiful!). With oval, we recommend nothing too dramatic as you don’t want to alter the perfect shape of your face, so a nice soft angled brow is perfect for you!
The Round Face
What should this look like?
The width and length of your face are roughly the same, with a soft rounded jaw.

What brows will suit me?
The goal here is to lengthen the face to trick everyone and make it appear more oval. To do this, we need to create height with the brows – a high arch is the go to! Make sure you create more vertical lines rather than soft round brows as this will just emphasise roundness.
The Long Face
What should this look like?
With your longer faces the cheekbones, forehead and jawlines are all approximately the same width. Generally the chin narrows down into a narrow oval.

What brows will suit me?
The goal with a longer face is make it slightly shorter which will lead to the appearance of an oval. Straight lines and a lengthens tail is the best fit for you! Avoid a high arch as this just lengthens the face further. A flatter, straight brow will do the trick nicely.
The Square Face
What should this look like?
Generally, the cheekbones, jawline and forehead are of the same width. An obvious giveaway of a square face is a killer, chiseled jawline.

What brows will suit me?
A square jaw is a very prominent feature so you can go one of two ways – balance with a strong brow or soften with some curves. brow to soften face shape.
The Heart Face
What should this look like?
A lot of people say a widows peak is necessary for a heart shape to give that curve at the top of a heart, but in my opinion as long as the forehead is wider at the top and your chin goes to a sharp point, you have a heart shaped face (or upside down triangle).

What brows will suit me?
It’s best to avoid super rounded brows as this with accentuate the top of the heart rounded, instead go for a soft brow with a lower arch to give that feminine finish.
The Diamond Face
What should this look like?
The widest point of the face is the cheekbones, and the forehead and chin narrow.

What brows will suit me?
So, our main goals are to soften the angles of the diamond and make the wide cheekbones appears more narrow. Instead of creating more harsh angles, a rounder soft brow is perfect for you.
