When it comes to a lasting, natural-looking spray tan, it’s best to leave it to the professionals with the experience and expertise. Gone are the days of teaching your other half to tan your back in hopes they don’t leave you streaky and orange. Whether you’re trying to avoid the harmful rays of the sun, or just looking to become a golden goddess, a spray tan is the best option. But before you book in for your next tan, follow our simple steps below and you can be sure your tan will leave you bronzed and glowing for longer.
Things to know before your spray tan appointment:
If you are getting a spray tan for a special occasion, we recommend having it done no more than 2 days before to ensure the tan is at its best.
We provide an optional disposable g-string for you, but you can wear your own underwear or bikini if you prefer; this depends on what you feel comfortable in.
If your tan is for a special occasion, please take into consideration the outfit you will be wearing as a bra or underwear will cause tan lines.
Step 1 – The Day Before
Make sure any waxing or shaving is done at least 24 hours before your appointment.
Exfoliate and cleanse your entire body the night before to prepare the skin for a fresh new tan.
To prevent creating a barrier, do not apply moisturiser before the spray tan; it should only be applied 12 hours before the tan.
Step 2 – The Day of Your Tan
Bring dark, loose clothing to wear after your appointment as tight clothing will make the tan uneven.
Do not wear perfume or deodorant to your appointment as the spray tan solution will react to it. You can put these on after showering the tan off.
Step 3 – Just After Your Tan
Leave the tan on for a minimum of 1 hour before showering, the longer you leave it on the deeper the colour will get. (Please note this is just for the tan we use at Eva Mercedes, each tan has a different development time so bare that in mind!)
During the development period, avoid activities that cause excessive sweating as this can leave streaks in the tan.
After the development period, shower in warm water (not too hot), and use a light, gentle body wash. The outer bronzer will wash off, and once the water runs clear, pat dry with a towel.
Avoid touching your body after your spray tan as this can leave finger prints on your body.
Step 4 – The Days After Your Tan
Try a tan booster like the MineTan Tan Booster Foam to boost colour results and skin hydration for a longer-lasting, deeper tan. Best used with the MineTan Bronze On Applicator Mitt.
Avoid chlorinated swimming pools as this can react with the tan and cause an uneven fade.
Avoid products that contain Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA’s) or Glycholic Acid as they can exfoliate the skin, causing the tan to fade quicker.
Moisturise daily to help your tan last longer, as well as to help it fade evenly.
When you’re ready for your next tan, use our MineTan Tan Eraser to remove all traces of old fake tan build up and prep the skin for a new tan in minutes.
We look forward to seeing you at Eva Mercedes soon!
