What are henna brows?

brows

Tint, tattoo or henna? So what exactly are henna brows? In a nutshell, a natural alternative to a brow tint.

With so many options available to tame those brows, it’s hard to decide what’s going to suit you best. The henna brow is one of the most recent brow trends to hit the beauty market and when we first heard about it, we instantly thought about the pretty tattoos we’d seen on women’s hands. But how would that look in the brow? We could only picture super dark reddish-brown, solid brows. Boy, was were we wrong… Henna brow is perfection!

What is Henna?

Henna is a naturally derived product made from crushing the leaves of the henna plant. Thousands of years ago in Ancient Egypt, Henna was used to dye fabrics and hair, as well as makeup for the face and body. Today, we see henna as an art-form, decorating the hands and arms of brides to bring good luck and happiness to the couple.

Unlike traditional henna, our product has a wide range of hair coloured options to find the perfect shade for you. The henna is applied much like a standard tint, left to dry, and then removed. The henna will stain the skin beneath the brow hairs as well as colouring the brow hair, which gives the illusion of a fuller brow, and it’s the BEST at getting those pesky little grey hairs that are annoyingly stubborn.

How Does Eva Mercedes Do Henna Brows?

Our Henna brow treatement is a longer-lasting, semi-permanent alternative to tint. Using 99.5% natural ingredients, our product lasts up to 2 weeks on the skin and up to 6 weeks on the brow hair. Unlike regular tint, henna contains no ammonia or peroxide. Henna helps to create a protective barrier around the brow hairs to lock in moisture and keep the hair conditioned leaving you with healthier, and happier, brow hairs. And to those of you who have sparser brows (I’m talking to you 90’s brows followers) the nutrients in henna help to repair damage and encourage new growth, regenerating brow growth by up to 60%. On top of being amazing for the brow hairs, henna has a natural cooling, anti-fungal and antibacterial effect on the skin, it helps to balance oil production and unclog hair follicles to restore the natural function of the sebaceous gland AND resets the natural pH balance of the skin. Awesome right?!

Our Henna Brow Style at Eva Mercedes uses brow symmetry techniques to gain the perfect brows tailored to your face shape. We give the brows a good cleanse and exfoliation so the henna has a fresh canvas to stick to, carefully apply the henna to your desired shape, and then wax and tweeze to perfection! Whether you like a bold, filled in brow, or a natural wash of colour, with 14 shades available, finding the perfect depth and tone of colour for you is no problem.

As with all treatments, there is a small chance of an allergic reaction, especially if you are sensitive. If you are concerned about allergies, please come in for a patch test 24-48 hours prior to your appointment.

So, if you want to cut your makeup routine in half and achieve natural looking, fuller brows using plant-based ingredients, Henna Brows are perfect for you!
